headcanon that the fact that ford's entry about earth ultimately did end up in the hitchhiker's guide in its complete form is actually the doctor's doing. he's too fond of earth, the omission seemed like such a criminal injustice.

headcanon on totally different thing, will from now on consider the second pokémon movie to be the epic-story-line-involving-legendaries that the gen I games never had and didn't gain even in their remakes. i guess lugia didn't exist yet, but gen I and II are kind of a whole anyway. maybe if gen I had been remade in a way that was worth anything. (and then again: a number of pokémon that first appeared in gen II were actually originally intended to be included in gen I... and lugia was one of them...)

conclusions about pokémon sun so far: oh my god lillie is so fucking obnoxious, i want her to die. let me play the fucking game the way i want to play it damnit.

actually you know what. i used to be such a fan of team rocket, but don't think i ever drew them. i should. they're the only good thing about the pokémon anime. well, that and the second movie. i will not hear anyone speak ill of that.

disturb not the harmony of fire, ice and lightning

apparently the second pokémon movie is widely considered the best one. i knew i had good taste! nevermind that the full orchestral version of lugia's song is just plain one of the greatest pieces of film music there is.

(yes i really did watch it enough times to own all four promo cards. those were the days. to think of how convinced my father was that i'd grow out of it soon, because he was so certain i was already too old for it to begin with. i'm twice as old now and ahahahahaha no.)

i told you that there's actually no reason it should be impossible to convert gen I/II pokémon to the format of later generations if you really wanted to. i mean, they have IVs (then called genes), they have EVs (then called stat experience), they have genders, they have or lack shinyness, you just need to pick out the things that determine those traits in the old system and translate them into the new one. might as well have claimed that it was impossible to trade gen I pokémon to gen II because the former don't have distinct special attack and defense values! no, the real reason nintendo didn't go for gen II <->gen III transfers is because of the difficulty of physically connecting the games. i mean, it would've required a special GB/GBA link cable that no other game would ever have had any use for. and maybe also to force people to stop relying on their old teams and try something new. or on the other hand to force them to buy fire red/leaf green to get a hold of new kanto pokémon. who knows.

there were way more copies of omega ruby left than of alpha sapphire when i got mine. how upsetting. why do people not realise that red is obviously a far better colour than blue. :(

i'm playing this on elite mode for gen I and can never get more than 5 in a row right, haha

did you know diglett, dugtrio, doduo, dodrio and exeggcute all use the same basic cries. and there's bound to be more groups like this, apparently gen I only has 37 basic cries, all else is variations in pitch and speed and whatnot. like say exeggutor's doesn't match exeggcute, but it does match drowzee, hypno and jynx...

also learned that krabby and kingler have great cries. sandslash and articuno aren't bad either.

reasons to hate gen III: latias and latios are basically the shittiest, dullest legendaries in existance

unpopular opinion: the gen I starter pokémon are all kind of shitty and boring. i don't like any of them. and i've actually been playing since non-remake gen I.

pokémon-amie really is pretty damn silly. i mean, here i am, feeding little cupcakes to dialga and making silly faces at it. (and i don't think it's actually humanly possible to make a smile big enough for pokémon-amie to recognise it. the engine is a bit lacking...)

okay, but if the newest generation of tamagotchi has a (relatively) high-resolution colour display, imagine what another generation of pokéwalker could look like

:D

i hope mega evolution disappears from the next generation of games, it seems so pointless and gimmicky

(and also it was totally ripped off from digimon. take that, everyone who's ever whined about digimon supposedly being a pokémon ripoff. at least the digimon anime managed to tell a more or less original story with every season!)

okay but how is it that in every single pokémon game, there's always so many trainers who are on victory road, and must therefore have won all eight badges of the respective region, but only have two or three pokémon with them? it can't even be the equivalent of ten-year-old kids who attempt to plow through the entire game with just their starter because doing that would result in said starter being massively overleveled by the time you reached victory road, which these trainers' teams aren't! i don't get it.

(and also honestly, even twitch plays pokémon managed to build a full team of six through what amounts to random button mashing.)

see this is exactly the kind of thing that makes me think it's sad you can't trade forward all the way from gen I to gen VI!! though from gen III to gen VI is still pretty impressive...

haha wow i transferred dialga from my diamond edition to soulsilver on a flashcart and now i'm looking at the save file and it has a speed IV of 0. legendary pokémon of time and it's the slowest it possibly could be. legendary piece of shit
