theory: the way so many tumblr teens freak the fuck out about teenagers ever being portrayed in even slightly sexual situations is the direct consequence of sex education that's either abstinence-only or at least heavily promotes it as the best, safest, most desirable option. if you're that visibly outraged about the idea of teenagers as sexual beings, there's no way anyone is ever going to consider that you might have sexual desires, right?...

(the whole concept of sex education focusing on abstinence is still so weird to me. none of what was taught to me way back in the 1990s even mentioned it, beyond possibly a cursory "yeah, not having sex at all would be the only 100% safe way to prevent unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, but since that's obviously not realistic, let's have a look at what options there are". actually the one thing i see wrong with my experience is that the teacher made the boys leave the classroom for some stuff about menstruation and menstrual hygiene. if i'm being charitable, maybe it was so the girls would feel more comfortable - we were in sixth grade - but the upshot is still that the boys didn't learn about these things at all, and they absolutely should have. they're going to interact with people who menstruate almost every day of their lives! give them the facts early and stop them from forming weird prejudices and misconceptions that fuck up things for everyone!)

doesn't look that bad though. look, i have a plan to go eat a curry and i'm not going to let a bit of wind stop me.
